Before installing please make sure that the Shape Shifter Switch will fit in the intended location.
In our testing, we have always been able to easily fit the Shape Shifter Switch in place of the middle tone pot of any Stratocaster-type guitar.
Caution for Telecaster users: Depending on the control cavity routing, Shape Shifter Switch may fit only in place of the volume pot.
The dimensions are 32x25mm with a depth of 18mm.
The Shape Shifter Switch must be connected in parallel with the guitar's output. There are two ways to achieve this:
Method 1: Connecting directly to the Output Jack.
a. Solder one of the Shape Shifter Switch wires to the tip lug of the output jack (signal).
b. Solder the other wire to the sleeve lug (ground).
Method 2: Connecting to the Guitar Electronics.
a. Locate the connection points for the hot (signal) and ground wires from the guitar's electronics, typically found on the case and one of the volume pot lugs.
b. Solder the two Shape Shifter Switch wires to these points.
Note: You can connect either Shape Shifter Switch wire to hot or ground, or to the tip or sleeve, as the internal electronics are symmetrical. This ensures correct functionality regardless of the wiring orientation, as long as the switch is connected in parallel with the output.
